Nigeria’s FIFA under 17 world cup winner Kelechi Nwakali has signed for Arsenal football club on a 5 year deal.
Kelechi who captained the Golden Eaglets to victory at the tournament announced on Facebook yesterday that he had agreed a move to the Emirates.
Nwakali’s transfer has been in the works since January, when he visited current Gunner’s boss Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.
He had been ineligible for a transfer due to FIFA regulations on signing youth players from other countries.
The impending transfer was recently concluded because he turned 18 this month and the midfielder posted a picture of himself holding an Arsenal shirt with his name on the back.
The teenager also posted a picture of himself with Wenger.
He then changed his bio on the social-networking site to “Footballer for Arsenal FC and Nigeria U20”.
He also wrote, “New life begins at Arsenal“.
Nwakali is Arsenal’s second signing after Granit Xhaka.
