Whistle-Blowing policy has helped reduced crime rate in the country -CP

The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Chris Ezike, on Saturday, has said the whistle-blowing policy introduced by his administration had helped a great deal in eradicating crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and child trafficking in the state.

The police boss said the policy had enhanced the sharing of high-level information, local intelligence and partnership between the police and the people.

Ezike specifically said the interception of a kidnap gang at the Owerri-Onitsha Expressway was made possible through the policy.

He said, “Through the policy, we were able to intercept a kidnap gang who were on their way to arrest a businesswoman, but decided to rob an oil magnate first. In the ensuing gun duel, we were able to arrest three and recover their arms, while one died on the spot.”

He reiterated the resolve of his command to tackle crimes, especially cultism.

According to him, once cultism is adequately checkmated, other crimes will reduce significantly.
