AFCON: Atiku Reacts To Super Eagles Defeat To Algeria

The Super Eagles were defeated by the Algerian National football team 2-1 on Sunday, at the Cairo International Stadium.

This win has moved Algeria into the Finals of the 2019 AFCON.

The game saw an own goal from Williams Troost-Ekong at the 40th minute into the first half of the game, causing many Nigerians heartbreak.

The Super Eagles scored their own goal at the 72nd minute of the game, by a penalty kick by Odion Ighalo, but this was shortlived as  Riyad Mahrez of the Algerian team netted another goal at the 5th minute of extra time of the game, causing the Eagles to lose out.

Reacting to the loss, Atiku wrote; “Well done @NGSuperEagles. We are forever proud of you. Though we didn’t make the finals, we stayed committed till the end. #TotalAFCON2019 #NGAALG”
