UEFA has released a three-man shortlist for the best player of the year ward with Liverpool defender, Van Dijk, the only newcomer in the race for the award.
The duo of five times Ballon D’or winners, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo were unsurprising featuring on the list.
It remains unknown whether the duopoly of both Ronaldo and Messi on individual awards would finally be over when the winner is announced.

The winner of the award would be announced on August 29th during the draw for the 2019/2020 edition of the elite competition.
