La Liga: Barcelona Declares £86m Profit For Last Year

Spanish giant Barcelona has revealed that the club recorded a profit of £86m for the last financial year and will possibly make a £240m profit next year.

Due to La Liga financial regulations during this season’s transfer window, the Spanish club could not register new players. The team recorded a £422m loss last year.

However, to register these players and not break the rule of La Liga, the team freed up funding with several ‘economic levers.’

Barcelona said it closed the 2021-22 financial year with a turnover of £890m.

The levers have involved selling shares of their future television rights and their media production unit Barca Studios.

In August this year, the club sold an additional 24.5% of Barca Studios to Orpheus Media for 100m euros (£84.6m) – this was expected to generate enough revenue to satisfy La Liga and allow Barca to register at least some of their new players.
