Okupe Reacts To Osuntokun’s Appointment As LP Presidential Campaign DG

Doyin Okupe, the former director general of the Labour Party Campaign Council, has congratulated Prof. Akin Osuntokun on being appointed as his replacement.

Okupe had resigned from his position as the Obi-Datti campaign DG on December 20 after being found guilty of violating the Money Laundering Act by an Abuja Federal High Court.

But on Tuesday, the party chose Osuntokun, a former adviser to Olusegun Obasanjo, to lead the campaign council.

Reacting, Okupe in a tweet on his official Twitter handle, expressed optimism that Osuntokun would deliver.

According to Okupe, the new DG had been a committed and foundation member of the Obidient movement.

The tweet reads: “I received the news of the appointment of my brother, bosom friend, strong ally and confidant, Prof Akin Oshuntokun, as the new DG of the LP Obi-Baba Ahmed campaign organisation.

“Oshuntokun has been a committed and foundation member of this great movement from the start. I wish him well.

“He served as political adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and was also a director of the presidential campaign of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011.”
