Three Players Shot As ‘Armed Robbers’ Attack Kano Pillars’ Team Bus

Three Kano Pillars players suffered gunshot injuries during an “armed robbery” attack along Abuja-Lokoja federal highway on their way to Owerri for the Glo Premier League opener against Heartland.

The Pillars bus was attacked around 1pm on Thursday afternoon and three players were shot while two others sustained injuries.

AfricanFootball.com gathers that Gambo Mohammed, Eneji Otekpa and Adamu Murtala were shot and, as well as the injured duo of Ubong Ekpai and Reuben Ogbonnaya, are currently receiving treatment in Lokoja.

The Nigerian champions’ media officer Idris Malikawa has called on the League Management Company (LMC) to shift the Week 1 clash billed for the Dan Anyiam Stadium.

“Our team bus was attacked by armed robbers this afternoon at Abaji between Lokoja and Abuja on the way to Owerri for the game against Heartland,” Malikawa is quoted as saying on AfricanFootball.com.

“We have notified the LMC of the incident and urged them to postpone the match against Heartland.”
