After the recent publication by the Spanish newspaper ‘Marca’ claiming the hot- cake Colombia front man, Falcao , is closing in on a move to Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson has come out to dispute every speculation as to the possibility of such move so far.
The publication also added that: “Sources close to both parties suggest that a down payment may have already been made as a guarantee for a future transfer.”
Ferguson indicated that there was no truth to the stories when he was pressed on the subject.
For Radamel Falcao’s Atletico’s boss, Diego Simeone, “Falcao is a great player and it’s logical that the best teams in the world are interested in him. It doesn’t surprise me,” he said after being quizzed on the speculation.
“Do you honestly believe that? Really? It does amaze me that you come up with that one,” Ferguson responded to the Falcao speculation.
“Javier Hernandez has been considered a potential makeweight in the deal for Falcao, however the Mexico international stated on Saturday that he is happy at the club despite limited playing time this season.
This is not the first time United will be linked with a star player, very early before the summer transfer window. Last summer, rumour had it Edzen Hazard was going to Old Trafford, before the Belgian midfielder chose Chelsea FC among a host of European clubs that were interested in his signature.
Before now, speculations had linked Falcao with Chelsea and Real Madrid, but Falcao is presently enjoying his football at Atletico Madrid. The best we can do is to take Sir Alex’s words then we wait and see.
