Former Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz has signed for Malaga on a three-year contract.

Following his release from City at the end of the season, the Paraguay international has agreed to a three year contract with the Blue and White and will join the team for their pre-season tour to Germany.

The 31-year-old former Blackburn Rovers striker spent the whole of last season on loan with the Spanish club, helping Malaga reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

He made just six Premier League starts for City and a further 14 as a substitute after joining from Rovers in July 2009 for £17.5. In total he scored four goals in 24 appearances for the Sky Blues.

Santa Cruz has played in the lower ranks of the Paraguayan national team and made his way to the first team, to become the country’s highest goal-scorer in history.
