Omeruo, 19, missed last week’s 2-0 win over Bafana Bafana in South Africa due to a shoulder injury he sustained at the 2014 Confederations Cup.

“We have been in constant touch and he has been very enthusiastic about the operation that was carried out last week Wednesday and he is now recuperating very well which is good news to me personally and to the entire national team, because we really missed him during the Bafana Bafana game in Durban.

“The shocking thing is that while he was at the hospital for the operation, he was monitoring the game and speaking constantly to me, which shows his total dedication to the team and Nigerian football,” said Keshi.

He added that he is aware that the Aminu Maigari-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has also been in constant touch with the player and that the entire Nigerian football community is happy at the progress the player has made so far after the operation.

The shoulder operation is expected to keep Omeruo out of the team for some months. But Keshi strongly reposed his confidence in the centre-back who he said will always be part of his plans for the national team because of his quality on and off the pitch.

“We all in the national team and on behalf of the NFF are wishing him the quickest of recoveries because both club and country need his quality play at all times,” he added.
