The Department of State Security, DSS, yesterday said it had finally secured a warrant of arrest for the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasir El-Rufai, and has now launched a manhunt for him.
This is even as the DSS said it was not on a political witch-hunt and was only looking for the APC chieftain to clarify his statement that there would be violence if the 2015 general elections are not free and fair.
Information Nigeria reports that armed operatives of the Service yesterday stormed a second house in Abuja believed to belong to the former FCT minister in their desperate bid to arrest him.
They had earlier in the afternoon invaded his first house in the Maitama District of the nation’s capital, but did not meet him at home as he had reportedly gone to pick his children from school. They were said to have tried to force their way in to arrest the former minister.
Clarifying its position last night, the Deputy Director (Public Relations) of DSS, Marylin Ogar, said there would be no waiver for El-Rufai.
Ogar said: “El-Rufai has to come and explain his statement to us or else we will arrest him. We have the warrant of arrest now, we will arrest him.
“The time for any human being to play pranks with the SSS has passed. Why is El-Rufai running away?”
On claims that the agency was infringing on the former minister’s rights, Ogar said: “We are not witch-hunting or infringing on his rights in any manner. El-Rufai made a few statements, we invited him to come and clarify what he said in line with our mandate to protect lives and property.
“If El-Rufai claims his statements were put in the wrong perspective by the media, we decided to give him an opportunity to clear the air. Is it wrong to hear from El-Rufai too?” Ogar asked.

I believe that whatever we do on this earth, we should always remember that their is God. Now bcos El-Rufai made a statement that “there would be violence if the 2015 general elections are not free and fair” sss are running after him. If this is not a political witch-hunt when Asari Dokubo made a strong statement that “If Jonathan did not win 2015 election that there will be bloodshed’ where are all this so call sss. But when another person from another party alter his own statement sss were after him. Who is fooling who. One thing I believe is that “no sinner will go un punish”. If you allow someone to make use of you bcos of position, definitely God Almighty is watching you. Always have it in mind that everyday is for the thief one day is for the owner. It is well.
