The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.D Abubakar yesterday assured that effective security measures have been put in place to ensure a hitch free Democracy Day celebration across the country.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba, the IG has directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in-charge of Intelligence and other top commanders to be on high alert and ensure effective and strategic deployment of all police personnel.
The IG, while promising all and sundry of the total commitment and focus of the Nigeria Police towards ensuring the safety and security of the citizenry at all times, also implored all Nigerians to remain vigilant and security conscious against the backdrop of the security challenges plaguing the country.
