Fifa Rejects Suarez Ban Appeal

Fifa has announced that Luiz Suarez’s appeal against his four-month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini of Italy has been rejected.

The Uruguay striker has been suspended from all football-related activities for four months and also banned for nine international matches after the incident which took place during his country’s group stage win over Italy.

Uruguayan FA had described Fifa’s ruling as an “excessive decision” for which “there was not enough evidence.”

Suarez, who has since apologised for his unhealthy on-the-pitch behavior, can now head to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) to make further appeal.

The Uruguayan has now been found guilty of biting three opponents in his career.
