Juve New Boy Morata Out for Seven Weeks

Juventus new signing Alvaro Morata will miss the start of the club’s Serie A title defence with a sprained left knee.

The former Real Madrid striker was forced out of the Bianconeri’s training session early on Monday after sustaining the injury.

Subsequent scans carried out at the Clinica Fornaca di Sessant in Turin “revealed a grade two tear of the medial collateral ligament in the striker’s left knee”.

“He is estimated to return to action in 50 days,” added Juve’s statement.

The youngster, who signed for Juventus just last Saturday, is now expected to miss the whole of the club pre-season and also ruled out of the start of the new Italian league season beginning on August 31.

He is expected to return to the squad in the second week of September.
