Chile Forward Vargas Joins QPR on a Season-Long Loan

Queens Park Rangers have signed Chile international forward Eduardo Vargas on a season-long loan from Napoli.

Vargas, 24, helped his country reached the knockout stages of this summer’s Fifa World Cup and, even scored the winning goal against Spain in the group stages.

He scored 5 times in 25 appearances while on loan at Valencia.

“I’ve come here to do as much as I can and I’m very happy to play for QPR,” Vargas told QPR’s official website.

“My biggest characteristic is one of speed. I’m always looking towards goal. My intention is to give 100% and not let myself down and to work hard for the team.”

The player, who has scored 15 times in 32 international caps, becomes the Hoops’ sixth signing of the summer following Isla, Rio Ferdinand, Jordon Mutch, Steven Caulker and Leroy Fer.

“Eduardo Vargas had a great World Cup and when the opportunity came to loan him, it was too good to miss,” said manager Harry Redknapp in his press conference ahead of this weekend’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

“He is a busy, strong player and is going to be good. He has to get his work permit so he won’t be available this week.”
