The Rivers State police command on Monday announced the recovery of a Toyota Camry vehicle snatched from a resident, David Nwoka, along East-West road.
The Rivers Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Ahmad, said the police received a distress call on a vehicle stolen at gunpoint about 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
According to him, a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, who acted on the distress call, swung into action pursuing and engaging the robbers in a shootout, wounding three of them.
“The snatched vehicle along with one locally made AK 47 rifle, ten rounds of 7.62 ammunition, one pump action gun and eleven cartridges were recovered”, he said.
The police spokesman said the recovered vehicle has since been handed over to Mr. Nwoka.
“The Command assures the public of better service delivery and sustained quick response to distress calls, please”, Mr. Ahmad said.
