4000 police officers deployed to Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command have announced the deployment of about 4000 of its personnel to prevent crime ahead of Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the thirteen local government areas of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abubakar Sadiq-Bello, stated this in an interview with journalists in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

Sadiq-Bello, who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenndy Idirisu, said, “Rigorous police patrol will be sustained on our highways for the safety of intending travellers.”

The police boss also urged members of the public to shun persons peddling hate speeches and to always live in peace with one another irrespective of their ethnic or religious affiliation.

While felicitating with the Muslim faithful, he admonished all to be vigilant during and after the festive period.

He reiterated the commitment of the command to the protection of lives and properties of all Nigerian citizens as enshrined in the constitution.

Also, the Nigeria Peace Corps, Nasarawa State command, says it has drafted about 2000 of its personnel to strategic areas in collaboration with other security agencies across the state to prevent crimes.

The state commandant of the corps, Mr Bala Joshua, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital on Wednesday.

He called on youths in the state to remain law-abiding citizens and respect constituted authorities.
