Police nabs two persons with fake N8m in Niger State

The Jigawa State Police Command said on Saturday that it had arrested two persons for alleged circulation of fake Nigerian currency.

Seventy-year-old Abdulkarim Adamu and 50 years old Umar Auta from old Kwata Sulks, in the Suleja and Bosso local government areas, were apprehended in Minna.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, told journalists in Minna that the suspects were arrested by a team of policemen for circulating N8m in fake currency in the state.

According to Abubakar, Adamu and Auta confessed to perpetrating the crime for several years.

The spokesman said the operatives recovered counterfeit N8m, one Dane gun, an axe and one machete from the suspects.

He said, “There is no hiding place for evil doers in this state. We must continue to fish them out to face the wrath of the law. We will do our best to make Niger crime-free.”

The PPRO however appealed to the public to continue to give information to the command, saying it would assist operatives in reducing the crime rate in the state.

He added that as soon as the command concluded investigations, the suspects would be charged to court.
