Keshi Loses Out On Burkina Faso Job – Report

French-German coach Gernot Rohr has been appointed new head coach of Burkina Faso national team, according to local reports.

The ex-Gabon and Niger handler will succeed Belgian coach Paul Put, who was sacked after a disappointing 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Equatorial Guinea.

The 61-year-old was in charge of Gabon when it made a quarter-finals berth at the 2012 Afcon finals on home soil, but failed to inspire Niger past the group stages in 2013.

Ex-Ghana coach, Milovan Rajevac and out-of-contract Nigerian coach Stephen Keshi were the other candidates in the running for the Stallions job.

Keshi recently confirmed to newsmen that his agent has been in talks with the Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF).

The ex-Nigeria international skipper, 53, has yet to finalise contract renewal talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after his initial three-year deal ended after last year’s World Cup in Brazil.
