Keshi Named In Three-Man Shortlist For Burkina Faso Job

Coach Stephen Keshi has been listed in a three-man shortlist for the head coach position of the Burkina Faso national team.

Ex-Ghana coach, Milovan Rajevac and ex-Gabon and Niger Republic coach Gernot Rohr are the other two candidates in the running for Stallions job, as confirmed by the country’s football federation on Tuesday.

“German Rorh, Serbian Rajevac and Nigerian Keshi have been selected by the commission,” read a statement by the Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF).

“The FBF plans to name the successful candidate within three weeks.”

Runners-up in 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in South Africa, the FBF sacked Belgian coach Paul Put after a dismal campaign in Equatorial Guinea, where they crashed out in the group stages with just one point.

Keshi is currently out of contract as renewal talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have yet to materialise.

The 53-year-old won the 2013 Afcon with the Super Eagles and guided the team into the second round of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

Rajevac was in charge of the Black Stars when it reached the final of the 2010 Nation Cup tournament in Angola and the last 8 of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Rohr, who was in charge of Gabon when it made a quarter-finals berth at the 2012 Afcon finals on home soil, failed to inspire Niger past the group stages in 2013.
