West Ham Striker Cole Charged Over ‘Offensive’ Tweet

West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has been hit with a Football Association charge over a comment he posted on social networking site, Twitter.

The 31-year-old England international had a Twitter altercation with a Tottenham Hotspur fan after his side’s 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane last week.

He allegedly told the Spurs fan “F off you c***” on the social media site, but later deleted the post.

“It is alleged that the comment was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper and/or brings the game into disrepute,” says the FA.

The striker has until 18:00GMT on Thursday to respond to the charge.

Cole was fined £20,000 by the FA in 2011 for a tweet he posted during a friendly match between England and Ghana.
