Senator Usman Albishir a one time senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is dead. Albishir was in the Senate between 1999 and 2007 when he was representing Yobe North constituency of Yobe State under the APP. The senator was involved in a ghastly motor accident which occurred within Kura local government area along Kano-Zaria expressway.
According to a source close to the late Senator, “he died as a result of injuries he sustained in many parts of his body. His police guard equally sustained injuries,”
In 2007 Albishir contested for Yobe State governorship post under the ANPP. Although he won the primaries, he was replaced by the late Mamman Ali. Albishir therefore decamped to the PDP in the build up to the 2011 election. But he lost to Ibrahim Gaidam.
The remains of the senator have been taken to his residence in Bompai, Kano, where funeral arrangements are already being made. May his soul rest in peace.
