Fall Out Of AWC 2012: NFF Disbands Super Falcons

Following their woeful performance at the recently concluded African Women’s Championship in Equatorial Guinea where they came fourth, the Super Falcons has been disbanded by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Super Falcons who came into the competition as defending champions, couldn’t re-create the feat that saw them emerge a force to reckon with in African women football as they lost twice; to South Africa in the semi-finals and also to Cameroon in the third-placed game.

The NFF who couldn’t fathom why the team failed despite giving them every necessary support before the competition, noted that there is no need keeping the team after they failed to retain the AWC trophy in Equatorial Guinea. However, they promised to reconstitute the team in no distant future.

Coach Kadiri Ikhana who allegedly resigned immediately the team returned from the competition, took responsibility for the team’s short-comings and pledged his continued assistance and support to the development of the game.
