Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah and Pastor Tunde Bakare, have come under ‘friendly fire’ from the Christian Association of Nigeria for daring to say that acquisition of private jets by religious leaders diminishes moral voices of the church in the war against corruption and are therefore calling for a revolution in the Church of God.

Speaking in a telephone interview, National Director of Research, Planning and Strategy, Elder Sunday Oibe, urged the Catholic bishop and the former vice presidential candidate of CPC, to stop hiding under the cloak of the gift of a jet to attack the CAN president advising that if they have anything against the person of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, they should come out and say so.

Oibe, who doubles as the Public Relations Officer of Northern CAN, went philosophical when he said ‘he who lives in a glass house should not throw stones.’

He said: “If there is any clergyman in the country whose constituency is government, it is Bishop Kukah, who served every government in power in the last decade.

“He thinks people have forgotten in a hurry how he served in Obasanjo’s government and turned round to attack the former president, or his fraternity with the former Governor James Ibori and his Rivers State counterpart, Peter Odili.”

  1. 4.2b Naira would have been used conveniently to build a standard hospital that will save millions of lives on daily basics. millions of people are there in our hospitals seeking for less than 5M to go for Heart or kidney operation but they die on daily basis for lack of money, thousands of the so-called churches members cant even afford 3 square meal daily…. how many do you wish to know. By their fruits we shall know them

  2. Men of God or devils advocates? You fly around in expensive jet while some members of your congregation cannot afford 3 square meal. Rubbish! Was Jesus a rich man? How many of his deciples are rich? Nigerian Christians shine your eyes.

  3. @common sense, I dnt think u have common sense, cos if u do, it shd have told u how unfair it is to make a blanket & sweeping accusation as urs. What a contradiction 2 say ‘men of God’ are ‘devils advocate’.

  4. U see why we shuld move to abolish tyte nd oferin in our churches includin launchin nd donation dat is wen u will see dat knwn of these men of god stands 4 god but exploits nd now they ar richer than our legislooters in abuja. Nwadays all over europe pple hav taken to football nd no body goes to church nd dats why even d pope is woried as many priest ar goin into mariage nd abandon this alter of pretence nd deceit

  5. I am not just a christian but a believer! So, I won’t judge but am really worried! Not because pastors are buying jets or because churches are building schools but because of the level of poverty in our churches! Most members of these churches cannot even afford to send their children to these schools!!! I just hope that the disconnect between the people & their POLITICAL LEADERS is not about to repeat itself between the people & their RELIGIOUS LEADERS!!!

  6. If these men of God can just be silent for a moment to hear from God, I think they would hear the voice of God conserning this topic from the radical christians. If Most Rev. Kukah dined with former presidency without cmplaints from the public does not mean that nigeria have to remain and continue that way. Today, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! To worsen the matter, For almost a year now, christians are being killed in dozens and hundreds weekly and the first and most important thing to be done to CAN president was to buy him a private jet. When did his church members became billionaires? UROBOMAN CAN NEVER EVER TAKE LAST POSITION! My Honourable pastor, am always blessed by your message as a pastor not as a guyman. Please sell that private jet, and use that money to recruit christian crusader that will stop boko haram from embarrasing christians.

  7. Mr. Sunday Oibe, are you speaking for CAN or yourself. Are sure, you are speaking for other Christians. Christ never leaved a life of affluence in the midst of the plenty in his time. Come to think of it? Is it really important for a man of God to separate himself by flying solo has his evangelism mandate be restricted to only those put together in churches and crusade grounds.
Well; lovers of the world, remember Col. 3:1-4.

  8. those who condemn the jet gift are so ignorant bc it is not against the word of God in anyway. Jesus rebuked Judas for condemning a woman who poured expensive oil no him and told him that, the poor will always be among them. i also remember the the queen of sheba fainted wen she saw the glory in d servants of Solomon. greatness is God prerogative gift to man, no man taketh this honor unto himself. more so the Bible says in Rev.5 that we shall reign as kings and to own a private jet is kingly, WHO SHOULD BE RICHER? MEN OF GOD OR MEN OF THE WORLD. LET’S NOT MAKE GOD INFERIOR TO MAN. GOD CAN BUY THE JET ON EARTH AND STILL FEED THE POOR, HE DOSE NOT LACK THE RESOURCE.

  9. CAN ɪ̣̝̇s the worst thing that has happened to christiandom. Sunday Oibe has no case. Let him substantiate his claim on his attack on the person of Kuka. Let him tell the world how Kuka benefited. Let him tell us how many Limos and jets that Kuka bought. He should also tell us how many persnal houses Kuka has. If he can not then he should close his eyes in shame. Oibe belongs †̥o a cabal of decievers in CAN

  10. I think it is now time
for the Catholic Bishops Conference in Nigeria to poll out from CAN. And for this baby adult called Oibe, where is he from? which CAN is he representing? we can not continue to listen to idiots like him. If Bishop Kukah wanted JETs he could have gotten them. He served Nigeria and Nigerians for no pay Oibe. It is now we know, that people think that be a CAN president is time to get into the hands of politicians. If Oibe is a man, let him put his phone number and I will get to him direct.
