Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has joined the call for the scrapping of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). He stated this while delivering a speech at the 50th anniversary lecture of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, over the weekend.
Okorocha who said that the scheme had outlived its purpose was quoted as saying: “The NYSC was set-up to promote unity but that has failed so, we need to look into other areas to improve the quality of education for our youths.”

Yeah they should oh, it is really no longer serving its purpose it is eliciting hatred and disharmony instead of unity.
If there is going to be a good alternative for graduating students i beleive it should be. Bcos it is no more functioning as it was.

NYSC should not be scrapped, rather it should be rebranded with some motivations like jobs and financial assistance to enable the young mind start up from somewhere

l know that Okorocha did call for the scrap do to he hate the services rendered by NYSC but the practices of nonchalant attitude from the government

Actually, the scheme should not be scrapped but let there be re~orientation of the scheme to mostly the NYSC officials because,most of the officials are vividly using that means to extort corps members by collecting a hug amount of money before posting,by granting some the corps members to travel abroad on the premise of collecting their feferal Allowance.Well, there is perfect need for the FG to restructure the NOBLE scheme for perfect achievement of the desired goals.

2. Did u know that this so call NYSC provide a temporary joy to fresh graduate and experience

Cheif Rochas Okorocha have said it and I am his oh yes member. The truth is that the service is no longer a service to the nation but for the self. Also as an employment scheme where aparent nepotism, favorism, tribalism and other …zims that promotes evil in the society are being incubated. But Chief Okorocha must forge ahead to form a political party that would take him to Asso Rock as the present APGA is a tribal political party that is different from his personal call to governance.
What do you expect from an Agbero turned Governor? We know Rochas Okorocha to be a Bokom Haram man. BH does not like any education and Rochas does not like products of education. Imo state produces the highest number of unemployed univ graduates in Nigeria; Now Rochas does not even want them to enjoy the only 1yr NYSC employment available to them in their life. The scheme should be re-structure by way of empowering them financially at the end of their service year. or Government shoud retain them after their service year. Alternativelly , the scheme should be scrapt if the youth safety is not guarantee. Finally, the founder of NYSC is from Jos, and the most crises comes from JOS, KADUNA AND BORNO STATE. I thinks if the scheme can not achieve its’s objective in this State , it should be scrapt.
