Super Falcon’s Coach Throws In The Towel

Kadiri Ikhana, coach of fumbling Super Falcons to recently concluded African Women Championship, has thrown in the towel after the team failed to retain their title in Equatorial Guinea.

Nigeria Super Falcons finished a disappointing fourth at the 2012 AWC after they lost 1-0 to Cameroon in a third-place playoff on Sunday.

Ikhana, who quit his post on the team’s return to the country on Monday, said though the target set for him in his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation was achieved at the tournament, he still resigned for his inability to meet his own personal target of lifting the trophy.

The former Enyimba and Kano Pillars tactician, took full responsibility for the results at the championship and expressed his apology to the nation.

Among other things, Kadiri’s contract stipulated that he qualified the team for the 2012 AWC and see them through to the semi-finals of the competition at least.

According to him, the notice of resignation to the federation is in accordance with his contract.
