Unidentified Gunmen Kill 2 Policemen In Ogun

Two policemen were on Monday (today) killed by unidentified gunmen at Olodo International Cattle Market, Ayetoro in Yewa area of Ogun State.

According to reports, the gunmen attacked cattle dealers at the market and dispossessed them of an undisclosed amount of money.

Two of the policemen who tried to rescue the cattle dealers from the robbery were shot dead by the suspects while others suffered injuries.

Sources say corpses of the slain policemen have been moved to the mortuary while those that were injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Police Command, ASP Muyiwa Adejobi while confirming the incident said the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered all Police Area Commanders in Yewa to beef up security.

In response to the attack, and as part of the efforts to improve the security network in the market and environs, two armoured personnel carriers, APC, have been stationed in the area.
