Eko Atlantic City

The first phase of the Eko Atlantic City Phase 1 will be inaugurated today.

Expected at the event among other top dignitaries are State governors, former United States president Bill Clinton, and President Goodluck Jonathan.

The event billed for 10 a.m. may see traffic situation worsen on the routes from the airport to the venue of the event. As usual when top dignitaries come to town, many roads will be blocked, especially in/around Victoria Island.

Eko Atlantic City is a planned district of Lagos that is being constructed on land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean. Upon completion, the new island which is still under development is anticipating 400,000 residents and a daily flow of 250,000 commuters. The development will also have a positive environmental impact as its main purpose is to stop the erosion of the Lagos coastline.
