Nigeria fought hard to escape a home defeat on Saturday against Kenya in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier thanks to a Nnamdi Oduamadi dying minute goal.
The Varese midfielder came in as a substitute for Sunday Mba in the 75th minute and went on to prove the key for his side as his 94th minute goal sent the fans inside the U.J Eusene Stadium Calabar, into a frenzy after the Super Eagles went a goal down courtesy of a Francis Kahata goal in the first half.
However, Oduamadi would go on to dedicate the goal to his mother, Patricia, who told him he would score. “I dedicate this goal to my mother because she told me before the game that I was going to score and she was serious about it. She has been my source of strength and inspiration,” Oduamadi was quoted as saying.
Oduamadi who was also named the Tom Tom Most Valuable Player (MVP) which carries $5000 prize as well as the Guiness goal prize of $2000 for his lone strike, said, “I’m very elated about these awards”.

I predicted 3-0 in favour of super eagles but una fall my hands but thank God for the Equaliser c/o Nnamdi oduamadis last whistle blast G O A L it is well, for some 20yrs now I ve not sat to watch Nigerian national teams matches until AFCON 1913 against Ivory coast. But now I promise I will not watch Nija matches if after nest match they loose. It a promise cos I can’t keep burning my fuel & time for pains & breath taken matches. I wish you all well
