Wilfried Zaha is undisputedly one of the beat talents from the Championship this season. Having put up an impressive performance for Ian Holloway’s promotion- chasing Crystal Palace, the impressive winger was named the Championship Player of the Year by his peers at the PFA Awards on Sunday evening.
The 20- year- old who is bound for Old Trafford this summer netted 6 goals in 45 appearances for Palace. He was also named in the Championship team of the year, in a recent interview with The Sun, he spoke for the first time about his forthcoming move to Manchester United, explaining why he can’t wait to join the club next season.
“I am just anxious and excited,” Wilfried revealed. “I cannot wait. It will be something different. When I walk into that dressing room at United, I do not know what I will feel. I will keep my head down as I am there to play football.
“But I have to admit I will be a bit star struck. Robin van Persie and Ryan Giggs will be in there too- amazing. How can I not be looking forward to this? I have to be patient. I do not expect to walk in and play week- in week- out. Once I get the chance I will take it.”
Arsene Wenger had been a long time admirer of Zaha before Manchester United snapped the winger from Selhurst Park in a deal believed to have worth £15 million. Many United fans had questioned the rationale behind the expensive cost prize for a young inexperienced winger, but Zaha who is due to resume at Old Trafford in the summer will look forward to silencing his critics when he starts playing for the Manchester club.
He has been impressive with England’s U21 side and his energetic performance at Old Trafford in the Capital One Cup tie at Old Trafford, in a clash Ian Holloway’s side won 1-2 at extra time lingers in the heart of many, who watched the tie.
