After a predicted rain delay, world number one Novak Djokovic returned to the Court Philippe Chatrier later than the scheduled 4pm for the clash against Guido Pella of Argentina.

Even though the Serb was held up once again by the rain in the second set, when back on the court, he wasted no time in seeing off world number 83, Pella, 6-2, 6-0, 6-2, to set up a third- round clash with Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria.

The fascinating aspect of the third- round clash is that 26th seed Dimitrov eliminated Djokovic from the Madrid open earlier this month.

In his second- round clash with Pella, Djokovic was determined to finish the contest in a short while, moving the Argentine around with his characteristically precise groundstrokes. The Serb broke for 4-2 and a run of 11 straight games either side of the rain delay ended the contest.

Dimitrov made it through around a couple of rain delays with a comprehensive 6-1, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 win over Frenchman Lucas Pouille on Court Suzanne Lenglen.

Already the talk of Roland Garros, the Djokovic- Dimitrov clash comes up on Saturday.
