Senator Kanti Bello Hasn’t Been Expelled – CPC

CPCThe Congress for Progressive Change, CPC has refuted reports that a former senator, Kanti Bello, was expelled from the party by the Katsina state chapter of the party.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Rotimi Fashakin on Thursday, the party said the news of Mr. Bello’s expulsion is “nothing but a piece of bunkum” adding “it is absolutely untrue”.

There were reports last week that the former Senator was expelled by CPC in Katsina state “as part of measures to sanitize the party ahead its merger with others to form the APC”.

Bello’s expulsion order was purportedly announced by Katsina state care taker chairman Farouk Adamu Aliyu during the party’s meeting to discuss the issue of merger in the state.

But the statement said Mr. Aliyu has denied making such an announcement.

“This explains why we believe this rumour, which was intended to cause disaffection among our teeming supporters, was the handiwork of mischief makers,” the statement said.

It also said “We hereby state unequivocally that Senator Kanti Bello remains a bona-vide member of the Party and expected to contribute to the growth and social harmony of the Party in Katsina state and Nigeria. The expulsion allegation should therefore be discarded as a piece of fiction, lacking efficacy”.
