Jonathan, Amaechi, In Good Terms, Says PDP

D83G4898The ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has said President Goodluck Jonathan and other governors, including Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, have good working relationship.

The party stated this on Sunday in reaction to a statement by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which chastised Mr. Jonathan’s security detail for blocking Amaechi from greeting the President during a book presentation at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday.

The ACN had reportedly accused Mr. Jonathan of demeaning the office of President by allowing his security aide to prevent a democratically elected public office holder (in reference to Amaechi) from exchanging pleasantries with him.

But in a statement its Acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tony Okeke on Sunday, PDP said, “President Goodluck Jonathan has a good relationship with all state governors, including that of Rivers State.

“We commend him (the President) for the reconciliations so far achieved in the PDP.”

Okeke also berated the ACN for asking for a probe of the incident.

In the statement, Okeke also accused the ACN National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, of being a despot for imposing his daughter, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, as a successor to his mother, the late Alhaja Abibat Mogaji, as President-General of the Association of Nigerian Market Women and Men.
