The Abia State Government has denied being behind the alleged cancellation of the birthday reception in honour of Governor of Rocha Okorocha of Imo State at the Abia State Polytechnic, earlier on Saturday saying “it will not be drawn into unnecessary matters with Imo state government over mundane issue.”
The clarification comes on the heels of a report by a national daily that Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji purportedly ordered that the birthday reception should not hold in the state because it was a ploy by Mr. Okorocha to launch the recently registered All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Abia.
The report was however, debunked by the Chief Press Secretary to the Abia Governor, Ugochukwu Emezue, who said Mr. Okorocha planned to launch a pet-project called ‘Imo Rescue Mission’ at the Abia State Polytechnic without the consent of the institution’s authorities.
He also said that the police in the state were not duly informed of the planned programme.
The Abia governor’s spokesman said contrary to speculation, his principal and Mr. Okorocha enjoy a cordial relationship but advised that rather than launch his pet project in Abia State, he should have done same in Imo State, where he is governor.
Mr. Emezue also noted that the state would do whatever it takes to prevent the incursion of political thugs from Imo State into Abia to disrupt the peace there.

After dubious deductions from civil servants salaries every month while won’t Okorocha have excess to do bthday party in another state, when hunger and poverty are killing Imolites.
