Warlord Basketball Club of Sango Ota clinched the 2013 Police Rookies championship in the U-18 category with a 34-27 victory over the Police Rookies basketball team.

Hope 4 Girls emerged winners of the U-18 women category having topped the four-team round-robin format adopted by the organisers.

Raptors Academy Surulere, Lagos, won the Under-16 men category.

The week-long championship took place at the basketball court of the Police College, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos. Twelve teams took part in the men U-18 category while only four teams participated in the women U-18 category. Six teams participated in the U-16 men category of the tournament.

Championship coordinator Mark Balogun, who is also the head coach of DSTV Premier Basketball League (PBL) side Police Baton, thanked all the teams that participated in the 15th edition of the tournament.

He promised that the programme will continue to help foster the development of young talents for the country’s basketball growth.
