The House of Representatives, Thursday instituted a probe into the death of a a 15-year-old Nigerian student, Austine Chukwuebuka Ogukwe, in Ghana, with a bid to discerning the circumstances surrounding his mysterious death.

Speaking with the House committee on Diaspora, the deceased’s father, Mr. Obioma Ogukwe, said that he learnt of his son’s demise on October 16 from the police in Ghana who told him his son had drowned the previous day .

“At the morgue I discovered that he was stabbed in the rib and there were other wounds with blood on his forehead and left and right sides”, he said.

Ogukwe therefore urged the House to get to the root of the matter, as the stab wound suggests foul play.

Over 200,000 Nigerian students are presently studying in Ghanaian universities.
