PDP Chieftain In Enugu On The Run Over Burning Of APC Membership Register

Apc-registration-393x300A factional chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Mr. Isaac Nwoye, who allegedly led armed thugs to hijack and burn the membership register of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the area, last Friday is now on the run.

The PDP chieftain may have fled after getting wind of the plan by the police to arrest him over the alleged offence.

Nwoye had led the thugs to hijack the register while collation of materials from the just concluded APC nationwide membership registration was ongoing at Udi collation centre at IFEPET Garden, Ninth Mile Corner.

The thugs reportedly dumped the register in a nearby bush, soaked it with petrol and set it on fire.

The spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, had earlier confirmed the incident even as he noted that the perpetrators are yet to be identified and arrested.

He said, “So far, we have been able to restore peace to the area and we are currently carrying out our investigations.

“We would speak to the press when we are ready with our findings”.

  1. It is important that the perpetrators of this act of lawlessness are brought to justice, it is a violation of peoples right of association and political participation. Everyone can not belong to PDP. It is even better for PDP that we have active opposition in this country, this will put PDP in check.
