Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, the Interim Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), in Sokoto State, said on Monday the party had registered 308,000 eligible members.

Abdulkadir said this at the maiden meeting of the expanded state Interim Management Committee in Sokoto.

According to him, there are 895,000 members who currently had temporary registration, awaiting to be registered in different parts of the state.

He said that the party was targeting to register about two million members in the state ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Abdulkadir said that the recent registration was conducted in all the government approved polling units of the 23 local Government areas of the state.

The chairman, who was a former Minister of Youth Development, commended the party faithful for demonstrating maturity that led to the success of the exercise.

He also commended the party’s national headquarters for making available adequate registration materials which helped in ensuring the success of the exercise.

Abdulkadir observed that the turn-out of eligible members was due to the leadership style of Gov. Aliyu Wamakko.

The chairman called on the party’s supporters to continue to live in peace with one another for the peace, progress and political development of the state.

In his contribution, Wamakko said “as law abiding citizens, do not hesitate to report to the nearest security outfit, any person or group of persons that want to cause political violence”.

He urged all progressives to cooperate and promote peace for the overall political development of the nation’s democracy.

Wamakko also called on them to continue to promote the lofty ideals of the party by mobilising more supporters at the grassroots level.

“The party has come to stay in Sokoto”, he said, adding that its supporters should not allow themselves to be harassed by selfish individuals. (NAN)
