Incoming Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has handed his new employers a four- man transfer hit-list of players he’d like to sign before the start of next season.

After being announced as David Moyes’s successor, he’s already got to work ahead of the summer transfer window.

Previous reports have suggested that Manchester United will hand him a huge £200 million transfer kitty to help them bounce back following their worst Premier League campaign to date – and it seems he’s gearing up to splash the cash.

According to the Guardian, Van Gaal has put Bayern Munich pair Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller, along with Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels and an attacking midfielder, on his list of preferred targets.

The paper also add that he’s handed Manchester United a ‘B’ and ‘C’ list of targets if any of his transfer priorities prove to be out of reach.

Van Gaal is also said to have approved the Red Devils’ pursuit of Luke Shaw and Toni Kroos.

The delay over Van Gaal’s appointment to the Old Trafford hot seat is reportedly because Manchester United have agreed to make an announcement on a date that will cause minimal disruption to the
Netherlands’ World Cup preparations.

That could be today as the Dutch squad are on a rest day following their 1-1 draw with Ecuador over the weekend.
