Injured Luke Shaw Ruled Out for Up to 4 Weeks

Manchester United have announced that defender Luke Shaw will not be available for selection for at least the next four weeks.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Luke Shaw has suffered a hamstring injury and will miss the opening game of the season against Swansea City on Saturday. The England international, a summer signing from Southampton, is likely to be sidelined for around four weeks.”

The club added that the injury prevented him from featuring in Tuesday’s 2-1 home win over Valencia.

The ex-Southampton player could return before Queens Park Rangers’ visit to Old Trafford.

The 19-year-old joined the 20-time champions in the close season for a fee believed to worth £30m- making him the most expensive teenager in world football.

Shaw has been handed the number 3 shirt vacated by Patrice Evra, who left for Italian champions Juventus this summer.
