Ebola: Atiku, Abike Dabiri-Erewa Flay Sack Of Doctors

Former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, have faulted the recent directive by the Federal Ministry of Health suspending the residency programme in all federal hospitals.

While condemning the sack of the about 16, 000 resident doctors in separate statements via their Twitter handles, the duo faulted the continued strike action by the Nigeria Medical Association in the face of Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in Lagos State and advocated an amicable resolution to the face-off.

Atiku, who used the hashtag #SackEbolaNotDoctors, said at this time of national emergency, the decision to fire the doctors was ill-advised.

Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa, in her reaction, described the sack as ‘condemnable’ just as a ‘strike nor sack is the way forward’.
