Troops Raid Boko Haram Hideout, Kill Over 50 Insurgents

Over 50 insurgents were killed over the weekend as troops raided their hideouts in Kawuri, Borno State, shortly before their planned attack on Konduga community.

The Defence Headquarters revealed on its site, http://defenceinfo.mil.ng, that some hardware, weapons, food items and personal belongings were destroyed in the raid, while one officer and two soldiers were seriously wounded during the gun duel.

However, the trio are said to be in stable condition.

Items recovered from the raid include, one fabricated artillery gun, 2 Anti-Aircraft guns, an armoured vehicle and assorted types of ammunition.

This is coming on the heels of reports that indicated that Michika, a key town in Adamawa state was overrun by the insurgents over the weekend. It is already the third large strategic town captured by the militants, after Gwoza and Bama.

Earlier on Saturday, the Adamawa State government in a statement disclosed that Gulak town, another community that is neighbour to Michika was under the control of the insurgents.

Boko Haram militants have continued to wreck havoc, seizing new territories, forcing thousands of people to flee from home and take refuge in the neigbouring towns, states and even countries.

Meanwhile, the secretary to Borno State Government (SSG) Ambassador Baba Ahmed Jidda declared that a considerable part of the state is under control of Boko Haram.
