President Goodluck Jonathan urges the Super Falcons to maintain their discipline following their success at the 9 African Women’s Championship.
Nigeria claimed a seventh AWC trophy in Namibia last Saturday and will lead the continent’s charges to next year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.
Mr. President, addressing the players just before Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting after receiving the trophy they won in Windhoek, thanked the coach Edwin Okon-led ladies for making the nation proud.
He urged them to maintain their character if they want to win more laurels and also promised the nation would honour them at all times.
Sports Minister Tammy Danagogo, speaking before the presentation of the trophy, described the Falcons as legendary. Danagogo stressed that the success of the team was only possible because of the President’s support for sports and the discipline in the camp.
The president promised to host the African women’s champions in a bigger ceremony on November 5.
