Ireti-KingibeA senatorial aspirant for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hajiya Ireti Heebah Kingibe has announced her decision to withdraw from the race.

She also said she was withdrawing her membership of the PDP, citing various factors, including the irregularities that marred the conduct of yesterday’s PDP FCT House of Representatives primary elections.

Kingibe in a terse statement explained that, “After close observation of the PDP FCT House of Representatives primary elections, conducted on December 6, 2014, I have come to the conclusion that the PDP FCT senatorial primaries will be neither free nor fair. Therefore, I am withdrawing from the PDP FCT senatorial race”.

Ireti, who is the wife of former chairman of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Baba Gana Kingibe, stated further that, “As the PDP has failed to offer a free, fair and democratic platform, where all members can participate without fear or intimidation, I also withdraw from the membership of the party”.
