Jonathan Has Failed South-East, Doesn’t Deserve Igbos Vote – Ndigbo Unity Forum

GEJ-SOUTH EASTAn Igbo socio-cultural group, Ndigbo Unity Forum, NUF, has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of failing in his promises to the people of the South-East.

In a communiqué issued after an emergency meeting in Awka, Anambra State, on Wednesday, the Forum said it was passing a vote of no confidence on the President, having become satisfied that he did not have the overall interest of the Igbos at heart.

The communiqué was signed by the NUF’s President, and the Secretary General, Messrs Augustine Chukwudum and Chinedu Onyebuchi respectively.

It read, “We unanimously agreed that having failed to fulfil most of his electoral promises to South-East region when compared to other geo-political regions in the country that it is now obvious that President Jonathan-led government does not appreciate the support he got from the South-East

“During his campaign in Enugu on Friday, January 9, 2015 President Jonathan told the people of South-East that he has rehabilitated 2,000 kilometres of roads in South-East within the past four years.

“Ndigbo Unity Forum wishes to let our people know that Mr. President lied. We hereby call on Mr. President to tell us in any part of South-East where he has rehabilitated just 70 kilometres of road.

“He promised to upgrade Enugu Airport to international standard within 18 months in office if he is re-elected for second term come Feb. 14, 2015. This is another plot to hoodwink Ndigbo so that we continue to be political slaves.

“The Onitsha seaport commissioned on August 30, 2012 amidst fanfare by President Jonathan is three years now we are yet to see canoe not to talk of big ship there. The much touted 2nd Niger Bridge, which they say construction work has started, will operate under a public-private partnership where even Igbo children yet unborn will have to pay tolls unlike their fellow Nigerians from other parts of the country that enjoy various bridges free of charge. Who is fooling who?”
