Enyimba ended the match with ten men as captain Chinedu Udoji received his marching order for a second booking five minutes from time.

The win means the reigning champions have recorded maximum points from two matches, while Enyimba have five points from four matches.

Shooting Stars 0-0 Nasarawa United

Shooting Stars FC snapped a winless run of two matches with a deserved goalless draw at Nasarawa United.

The coach Franklin Howard’s side came into their Match Day 4 encounter at the Lafia Township stadium without a point after an opening day defeat at Wikki Tourists and a home defeat by Heartland FC.

However, they rubbished every notion of an impending catastrophe with a resolute performance against the ‘Solid Miners’ and could have snatched a rare victory had Ajayi Junior’s close-range shot not missed target.

Manir Ubale’s goal-bound effort in the 67th minute was cleared by the hard-working Yinka Adedeji to ensure there was not to be a fairy tale ending for the ‘Oluyole Warriors’.

Rangers 0-1 Giwa

Giwa FC defeated Enugu Rangers 1-0 to take their tally to seven points.

Shaibu Ibrahim’s 50th-minute goal separated both sides, leaving Rangers with just three points from three matches.

The ‘Flying Antelopes’ struggled to claw back into the game but could not fashion out an equaliser.

Ibrahim could have doubled the ‘Jos Elephants’s’ lead, only for Rangers goalie Akor Itodo to pull off a superb save off his long-range shot.

Kwara 1-3 Heartland

Heartland leaped to the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) following their 3-1 win at Kwara United.

Ahmed Jimoh opened scoring for the ‘Afonja Warriors’ in the ninth minute netting David Obiozor’s rebound of his initial shot on his second asking.

Three minutes later, the game was back on level pegging via Mohammed Mohammed’s equaliser.

Mohammed paved way for Jimoh Oni early on, and the substitute also got among the goals in the 21st minute.

Bright Ejike headed home the ‘Nazee Millionaires’s’ third to close out an emphatic away win. Heartland now top the table with maximum points from three games.

Lobi 2-2 Sharks

Lobi Stars and Sharks FC shared the spoils in a finely poised encounter in Makurdi.

Jaiyeola Yusuf stunned the home crowd after eight minutes but Uche Ihurualam restored parity for the hosts two minutes to the break

Idakwo Eche pulled Lobi ahead a minute after an hour of play with a glancing header off Terpade Tsafa’s assist.

Bode Daniel rescued a point for the Port-Harcourt visitors two minutes to the dead.
