Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has high hopes that the suspension of football in Spain will be lifted and a truce brokered between waring parties in a short time.
The Spanish football federation (RFEF) announced on Wednesday that matches will be halted indefinitely on 16 May in a dispute with government, including a newly established television rights act.
The final two weekends of domestic football in Spain is likely to be affected including matches in the La Liga and Copa del Rey.
“I truly believe that this is a matter that is going to be resolved over the coming days,” the Italian tactician said in his pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s league match at home to Valencia.
“The parties will meet and take the right decisions so that La Liga ends on the scheduled date.”
Barcelona lead the Spanish top flight with three games remaining. They are two points above the Los Blancos and face Real Sociedad also on Saturday.
Barca boss Luis Enrique said: “The desires of the players have to be taken into account. I hope it doesn’t halt league play and the season ends the way it’s supposed to.”
