Man Utd and PSV Reach Agreement on the Transfer of Depay

Manchester United have agreed a fee with PSV Eindhoven for the transfer of Dutch winger Memphis Depay, the Premier League club have confirmed.

United said in a statement on Thursday it “has reached agreement with PSV Eindhoven and Memphis Depay for the player’s transfer, subject to a medical, once the transfer window opens in June.”

The 21-year-old was part of the Netherlands squad which came third at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, becoming the youngest Dutchman to score at the showpiece after finding the net twice in the group stages.

He has scored 21 goals in 28 appearances this season, as well as playing a pivotal role in PSV’s match to a first Erdevisie title since 2008.

Depay, who started his career with PSV reserve team, has netted 38 league goals in 88 appearances so far for PSV.

PSV Eindhoven sporting director Marcel Brands said: “Memphis has gone through all the teams of the PSV youth academy and has played an important part in the national title this year. He ‘s a wonderful exponent of our training and will make a nice transition to a magnificent club in a beautiful competition.”

Liverpool and Paris St-Germain were the other club who had shown interest in the lanky forward.
