NDLEA’ Siege To Kashamu’s Home Not Extra-Judicial – AGF Adoke

AGF Mohammed-Bello-AdokeIf the confirmation by Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke that the siege laid to the Lekki Phase 1 residence of Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu is not illegal, then the game is up for the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain.

In the early hours of Saturday, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, sealed off the residence of the Ogun-East Senator-elect, fueling speculations that the anti-narcotics agency might have concluded plans to arrest Mr. Kashamu and extradite him to the United States of America to answer for drug-related charges brought against him there.

A statement by his media aide, Austin Oniyokor, however, described as illegal, the decision by the drug law enforcement agency to surround his house just as unconfirmed reports claim Mr. Kashamu has threatened to commit suicide if the NDLEA operatives break into his master bedroom – where he has since holed up himself – to effect his arrest.

According to Channels TV, Mr. Adoke revealed that a formal request has been made by the American government seeking Buruji’s extradition and same has been passed to the appropriate legal body.

The AGF, however, stressed that due process an all legal proceedings would be pursued with respect to the senator-elect’s extradition.
