Fifa Under-17 World Cup Draw Slated for 6 August

The Group Stage Draw for the 2015 FIfa Under-17 World Cup will hold on 6 August in the Chilean city of Santiago.

According to the Programme of event, the Draw Ceremony slated for the Art Centre 660 will be followed by the Official Draw Bouquet at the Grand Hyatt Santiago hours later.

Nigeria are the reigning world champions at the cadet level after winning a record fourth title in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2013.

The Golden Eaglets will seek to extend their record when they make their seventh appearance at U-17 tournament, after posting a fourth-placed finish at the African Junior Championship in Niamey, Niger Republic in March.

Nigeria have won the Fifa U-17 World Cup in 1985, 1993, 2007 and 2013.

The African champions, Mali, Guinea and South Africa will fly Africa’s flag in the championship, scheduled to run from 17 October to 8 November.

Europe will be represented by Russia, Germany, France, Belgium, England and Croatia, while the USA, Mexico, Honduras and Costa Rica have qualified from North and Central America. South America will field hosts Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. North Korea, Australia, Syria and Korea Republic are eligible from Asia. New Zealand are the team from Oceania.

Eight cities have been picked to host the tournament’s 52 matches; across Santiago de Chile, Puerto Montt, Chillan, Concepcion, Talca, La Serena, Coquimbo and Vina del Mar.

Chile, currently playing host to the 2015 Copa America, hosted the Fifa World Cup in 1962, and has hosted the Fifa U-20 World Cup (1987) and the Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup (2008).
